More than two years after the WHO declared the Novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) as a pandemic, we are still grappling to come to terms with a new way of life filled with so much uncertainty. Just as we begin to feel that we can let down our guard and resume our lives, there is a new variant of the virus doing the rounds and we are asked to take all precautions necessary to stay safe.
We wish that we can put the pandemic behind us soon and live our lives again with vigour and vitality.
This poem is an appeal to the Novel Corona Virus to be kind to us and give us back our peace of mind.
Oh Corona Virus, you have filled our hearts with fear!
When we see a human being, we dare not go near.
You have forced us to wear a mask and change our ways.
Anxiety and doubt, fill most of our days.
Catching a cold was common with a change in season.
We did not think much of it, as there was no reason.
Today, a slight cough can send us into a tizzy.
A bout of sneezing can make us very dizzy.
Oh Corona Virus, give us back our peace of mind!
Bestow mercy and forgiveness on all of mankind.
It is time to return to your home and hearth.
Please be kind to all of us on planet Earth.
We wish to restart our lives and leave behind this pain.
Oh Corona Virus, let us live our lives again!
